The longer you have a vehicle, the more likely that something extremely unhelpful is growing under the hood. That unfortunate activity is located specifically on the terminals of the battery. This is something that happens regardless of upkeep but still something that must be watched out for. That substance is called corrosion<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\nLeft alone, corrosion will spread and eventually keep the engine from turning over. In order to avoid being unable to get started, there are a few things to watch out for. If you have left your motorhome<\/a><\/strong> covered for the winter, there\u2019s a possibility that you\u2019ll find some disturbance on the battery terminals when you\u2019re ready to get going again. Extreme temperatures also play a roll in the process.<\/p>\n

\nBefore cleaning can commence, you must loosen the bolts and pull the cables aside. Once you\u2019re all ready, there are a few options to get rid of it. Open up a can of dark soda and drip it across the areas that are ashy. The acid will eat away at the substance. What if you\u2019re out of pop and are still unable to leave? You\u2019re likely to at least have baking soda and an old toothbrush. Sprinkle the baking soda over the terminals and dip the brush in water. This option requires some scrubbing here to aid the materials but it gets the job done. Once the terminals are cleaned off, add a layer of Vaseline to the exposed metals, which will deter future corrosion.<\/p>\n
